The Starting Point

If you own a car in Florida, the state requirements dictates that you should carry at least $10,000 of personal injury protection (PIP) and another $10,000 of property damage liability coverage.

This is the starting point. You are, by law, required to carry Florida Auto Insurance with, as a minimum, the most basic property damage liability coverage for any accident in which you are fault. Florida law does not require bodily injury liability coverage which of course means that in the even of an accident in which the other driver incurs accident related medical expenses, you will be entirely responsible these expenses.

Making sure that you have the right car insurance means that you have to be aware of up-do-date state requirements. Car related accidents can be really expensive and having the basic, legally required coverage, does not, in any way, offer nearly enough protection for yourself or your family. From legal regulations to common coverage requirements, L & C Insurance Providers mission is to always be one step ahead of our competitors in terms of knowledge and experience.

What you need to know if you drive in Florida

  • 24% of drivers in Florida are uninsured. Nationwide, this number is 12%
  • An uninsured motorist coverage offers protection from damages caused by uninsured and hit and run drivers
  • Digital insurance cared are accepted. Providing proof of coverage with your smartphone to a police officer who's just pulled your over is perfectly legal
  • Florida is a no fault state, requiring that drivers carry their own protection. This means that when an accident happens, irrespective of who is at fault, drivers take care of themselves.
  • In spite of this "no-fault" state provision, drivers can be taken to court and sued for severe injury, disfigurement, or death. As such, choosing a bodily injury liability coverage that meets your needs is crucial.

What about costs?

When it comes to annual premiums for homeowners insurance, Florida ranks as one of the more expensive states in the country. But premiums vary from location to location and even from one policy to another.  The determining factors in estimating the cost of homeowners insurance for your own home depend on the size of your home, your assets and of course your address.
